Resilience skills can be learned and using personal strengths is a powerful tool to build resilience skills. Using personal strengths can help clients reduce the impact of a setback, navigate the challenges, and arrive stronger at the other side. Drawing on evidence-based techniques, this training session will show you how to harness clients’ strengths specifically to increase their capacity to overcome challenges and to become more resilient.
The training session will include: (1) a brief overview of the concept of personal strengths in the context of therapy and coaching; (2) guided instructions on how to help clients identify and interpret their personal strengths; (3) a brief outline of the processes and skills that are crucial in building resilience ; and (4) an illustration of the relationship between personal strengths and resilience skills.
The session will then look at the practical application of evidence-based techniques that use personal strengths to reduce depressive symptoms and increase emotional wellbeing, and will then focus on how to harness personal strengths to boost resilience.
Throughout, the training session will include practical examples and participant contribution is encouraged. Participants will also have the opportunity to practice in role-plays and discuss how the newly learned techniques can be incorporated into their practice.
