The greatest weapon against stress, is our ability to choose one thought over another – William James
Evidence based Structured psychotherapies are the most widely used form of psychotherapy, and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is arguably the most widely studied one amongst these, with an enormous evidence base. A firm grounding in CBT provides for a stable base and improved outcomes, especially when it is done in a structured and experiential way, which is what you will learn and practice in these CBT workshops. This workshop trains you in a structured ‘ABCDE’ approach, which aligns the best strategies and approaches from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Rational Emotive Behavioural Therapy (REBT) and Meichenbaum’s self-instructional training (SIT), so you have multiple strategies and can work with a wider range of presentations. The aim is to incorporate it into more and more interactions, till our conversations become therapeutic, not just challenging dysfunctional thoughts but also uncovering empowering and ego-enhancing beliefs.
Module 2: Including specific BT, CBT and Mindfulness based approaches (like DBT) for Dual diagnosis, Behavioural change, and Personality issues.
If a claim is worth making, make it in the most specific way – Claude C Hopkins
Providing specific solutions to specific problems enhances the efficacy of therapy, leads to provision of more evidence-based treatments. Specific CBT approaches also have clearer structure, and by providing treatment with greater specificity, they manage to hit the nail on the head. You will understand and practice specific approaches - beginning with psychoeducation about illness, its maintaining factors and treatment, to enhance awareness, motivation and insight. Then you will progress to specific behavioural and cognitive interventions like Motivational Enhancement, Brief interventions and Relapse Prevention for behaviour change, substance use, Behavioural activation for depression and Exposure based CBT, Graded exposure and Phase based therapy for anxiety and trauma. You will learn structured approaches and be able to summarize therapy plans as one pager for your clients.
